rainy weekend in dc [part 1]

over the weekend, we took a whirlwind trip to washington dc with joel's brother, sam + his sweet family (christa and logan). logan is almost 3 weeks younger than lincoln so we figured it was about time for the two cousins to finally get accquanited. sam and christa drove all the way down from michigan to meet us in dc (kudos to them). it was rainy + overcast the entire weekend but we braved the weather to see the sights. day one was spent figuring out the public transportation system, animal watching at the zoo + eating dinner in chinatown.

the beautiful and talented ladies from the blog a beautiful mess have created a photo app and i must say that i am in love! i seriously could sit and edit my instagram pictures all day. it has cute doodles and frames you can add and it's super easy! 

if you haven't downloaded it yet, you should do that right now. i'm serious. i know you'll love creating little works of art to share with your family + friends.

 

local farmer's market.

this weekend, we ventured out to our local farmer's market. it's just a short walk from our house, which was a huge selling point when we bought the place. they had everything from strawberries, herbs, veggies i hardly ever cook (like beets), baked goods, a live cooking demonstration and a middle aged man singing his rendition of britney spears "hit me baby one more time" on his guitar. so yeah, you never know what you're going to discover at your local farmer's market. 

i think the nicest part for us is simply getting some fresh air and exploring. lincoln was on the verge of falling asleep the entire time but i'll take that over him screaming any day.

leave it to me to go to a farmer's market and leave with nothing but a fresh baked muffin. it had some fruit in it so that's gotta count. right?
